    Which is correct?

Does anyone have the correct date for "Lustig-Traurig" (WoO54) - for some reason I have it listed twice on the compositions page! 1788-90 and 1802.

I'm pretty sure it's 1802. I think it may be uncertain, however.

I have no idea...I'm thinking it might be 1802.

I think it must be 1802 but nobody is very sure... Posthumous edited of course.

Thank you all! - the consensus seems to be 1802 and Cooper suggests that date as well.

The general index to the Beethoven Edition has 1802 followed by a question mark, so I think that's as near as we'll get.

Dennis Matthews says 1802, but has a question mark next to this date. I'll check Thayer tonight.

I, too, show a question mark next to the date 1802 in my records, (published posthumously).

'Thayers Life' states unequivocally 1796....or 1797. Glad that's sorted out!

This explains why I have it listed twice! I think I'll leave it as it is and you can take your pick!
