                  If it's Beethoven, I almost always leave out his name when I post whatever I'm listening to .... and today it's a selection of piano variations. The Salieri set is a particular favourite of mine - a skeletal theme (of which B himself wrote many) is transformed into comedy, romance and drama.

                    This was on the radio this morning, so I am not sure which pieces are in the set. It was a piano version, so that was fun to listen to.

                            IMO better performance than at the Proms, but nevertheless a lightweight Turnage.

                            Carnival overture opus 92
                            Also on the latest BBC MM CD.
                            High speed, low impact performance without much space to breathe naturally.
                            A performance to avoid IMO.
                            Further sign of CFMification of BBC MM CDs?
