Beethoven's Beethoven's Piano Trio 5 (The Ghost), 2nd mov. Usually when listening to this piece I feel death, hurt, darkness, etc., though, I am listening to it now and feel deep, moving, etc. beauty.

I am in a deeper state of being as of now and know that this is why I hear this beauty, usually I am too "nutty" to hear this, and therefore hear the mentioned above. I am in a more sane state of being, imo.

I was wondering if anyone else felt a deep and moving beauty in this piece?

Beethoven, Missa Solemnis, Sanctus, especially the first few bars up to where the voices enter.

Yes and I think you'd find a similar response to the slow movt of Op.10/3 and the slow movt of Op.18/1.

Peter, thank you for your reply - it makes me feel very good to know that someone else feels this. To my mind, it is very deep that you feel the depth, passion, beauty, etc. of that trio. Unfortunately, as I sit and listen to it now, I am not in the state of being I was in and can almost only speculate about the 2nd mov. Though, I still feel some of what I felt. Something I find interesting is that the darker it gets the more passionate and beautiful it gets, and filled with a very serious depth.

I do not know what to think of the 1st and 3rd movements of the trio – they are all over the place?

                  Thank you for the recommendations.

Sorrano, the violin/orchestra or the violin/piano version?
What do you think of this work?

This was the violin/orchestra version and I quite enjoyed it very much, but then I quite like pretty much everything I have heard from Schumann. Did Schumann do the orchestration? It would be interesting to hear the piano version, as well.

His overture to Genovive (sorry for the spelling) has been broadcast two or three times in the last week or so on the radio, as well, which I find very listenable.

It is an original, orchestral score of Schumann's. The piano version (which is not a mere piano reduction for that matter) is Schumann's too.
In the wrong hands this fantasy easily becomes a monotonous, boring work.
And then it is said: you know, those later Schumann works, they lack the freshness and ingeniuity of his earlier ones, don't they? Which IMO is utter rubbish.

I can't say that I've heard anything from Schumann that I felt was lackluster. His music isn't played that frequently over the radio here, so it's a treat when I can hear it.
