    Gioachino Rossini 220th anniversary

Good for Google today marking the anniversary of Gioachino Rossini’s birth.

The frog-adorned “Doodle” marks both Leap Day and the 220th anniversary of composer Gioachino Rossini’s birth

This fits to my latest discovery of great musical gems, which may be also for you an altogether new aspect of the work of Rossini: The fantastic final fugue from Rossini's Stabat Mater starting at 4:44 from:

Very moving is also the beginning of the work:

Beethoven's 220th birthday was back in 1990 but everybody was too busy gearing up for Mozart 91 to give it a thought. And Google didn't acknowledge Beethoven's 240th.
      And I have a toothache!

I love the Stabat Mater! My brother sent me a recording of that this past Christmas.
