    BBC Radio 3 to premiere unheard Brahms work
    Johannes Brahms was one of the leading musicians of the Romantic period A recently discovered piano work by the composer Johannes Brahms is to be given its world premiere by Radio 3, more than 160 years after it was written.

      Many of Brahms' works are known to be based on much older sketches or eventually destroyed allready completed works (e.g. Symphony in d > double piano sonata in d> piano concerto 1; piano concerto 1's discarded scherzo > Deutsches Requiem; sonata for 2 pianos > string quintet > piano quintet op.34; Missa canonica > motets opus 74; symphony 5 > string quintet op.111).

      Here we got a glimpse of a middle section of the 1st mvt of the horn trio opus 40 (1865), completed more than a decade after the now recently dicovered Albumblatt was composed (1853).

      Lovely little piece it is, perfect for an encore.
