    The Beethoven teaser

    I've made it much much easier this time - only 6 instead of 8!


    1) Half a step up ivories become strings. Answered by Delirious lab : Piano Sonata Op.14/1 in E major arranged by the composer for String Quartet in F major (H 34)

    2) An heroic impression made in just two days, but alas not reciprocated. Answered by Philip : Cherubini's 'Les deux journees'

    3) Joanna goes on an epic trip. Answered by Philip : Broadwood piano

    4) The missing 'cellist! Answered by Michael : Joseph Linke

    5) A ruined fortress rebuilt? Answered by Michael : Fidelio - Beethoven wrote to Treitschke thanking him for his improvements to the opera "it determines me all the more to restore the ruins of an old fortress'.

    6) It's a long bike ride away. Answered by Michael: Song cycle "An die ferne geliebte"

                      Another wild guess - "missing cellist" wouldn't be one of the puzzle canons ("Das Schweigen" or Das Reden") dedicated to Charles Neate?

                          "Leonora" emerging in 1814 as "Fidelio"?

                          "missing cellist" ... Linke? (as in "missing link")
