There is still much nonsence written on the internet, at supposedly educational sites. I read at one site that after receiving his Broadwood Beethoven's subsequent compositions were all written within the Broadwood's 6 octave range, to show his appreciation and preference for the English genre of piano. This is a totally incorrect as all of the late works require 6.5 octaves that were by then popular with Viennese instruments. On another site i read that B composed the 9th on his Graf piano that was ordered with special 'turkish' instrument pedals for use in composing the finale!! Of course he received the Graf after the 9th was completed, without the turkish pedals.
