The Endellion Quartet go much easier on the vibrato than most others, to my ears.

I really cannot say who plays Beethoven's late quartets "best", as the premise founders on the quicksands of aesthetic taste; go there, and sink (please, be my guest).
However, vibrato, as a 'cellist, I know well (pianists can retire at this point, it is beyond their simple minds).
I have to say I do like this notion of all four string (quartet) players "wobbling" (vibrating, a neogolism, thank you very much) at different rates, and seriously fuxxing up the intonation. Actually, it is an excellent point. How to notate it? It isn't. Oh dear. What to do, then? Good taste. What's that?
Of course, there's "fast" vibrato (doesn't mess with the intonation too much) and "slow" vibrato (which distorts the note by about a quarter tone and is absolutely horrible with the fixed-pitch fascists known as keyboard players). What are we to do?Comment
