Hey Ed, you're cool. Plenty of music-lovers would enjoy discussions with you, without the aggression and bullying which seems to be the tenor of some posts I've read from this Forum. I guess you get these folks on the internet!

I enjoyed your comments about the Beethoven String Quartet and will have more to say on this when time permits. I'm working right now, which might be the answer to Megan's observation about why people start threads and disappear: it's called having "a life".

I like to use humor and irony, but this goes over some folks' heads.

Yes, dude,,, folks have a life, that's why the forum has gone down. It is too boring for me. So I'll leave you and your new found cyber friend Ed, to bleat about the greatness of Beethoven ad nauseam. It is so tiresome!
Carry on with your sad lives!

How ridiculous to accuse me of being aggressive, anyone would think you were a bunch of girls.

The accusation about aggression had absolutely nothing to do with you. Chill.

No Megan, don't say that. Keep on posting, .

I just woke up a little bit ago, and decided to check this thread. Lets just calm down.

I usually try to keep personal opinion off the forum, to the best I can. Though, it was hard this time. Either way, we all have different opinions about things, ways, etc. Who doesn't?

Megan and I have both stated our beliefs about the word dude - if you do not like the beliefs, I really could care less.

I have been on a lot of forums and have seen some pretty twisted user names. Though, it is quite rare, to my mind, to see one name themselves something like 'The Dude' or 'The King' or 'The Man' - all of which are similar. Ed, you did not answer my question asking you if you were, in all honesty, perfectly OK with calling the member 'The Dude'? If so, I do not understand why you would not change your name from Ed C to one of the above... ex. 'The King'?

Either way, if The Dude prefers to be called 'The Dude' instead of something else? - I will call them that. As, I have already done and as has Megan.

Dear Preston, don't worry on my account. It's no big deal. There is more to my life than a little forum

sewagepump84mo is the latest "member" to be welcomed to the Forum. Of course, it's nothing as offensive as "The Dude". Are you laughing, Ed? I know I am.

Joy happens to be a long-time member here and from what I know and understand has had a much busier life in the last couple of years than prior when she posted more. I know that she would frequent this site more and participate more, but there are other things going on.

Megan, I've enjoyed your posts, as well as Preston's; sometimes it requires a bit of a thick skin to frequent forums as not all people will agree with each other. Forums go through phases, sometimes there are not many people, then suddenly there are a host of them. Be patient and things will change. I do look forward to more of your postings.

I don't really care to enter this fascinating discussion, but you know I can't resist.
First off : I do hope Megan that you keep posting.
Secondly, concerning the word "dude" (with or without definite article) : I have made extensive research (about 4.33 seconds on the Internet) and found this delightful snippet :

The Merriam-Webster dictionary says the word “dude” dates back to 1883 and means “a man extremely fastidious in dress and manner” or “a city dweller unfamiliar with life on the range.”

Does it apply to the blogger (the dude) in question? I think we should be told.
Whilst awaiting the response, I shall hum the famous "Bruckner ryhthm" (a 2+3 in 4/4 time), thus : du-de du-de-di dum-dum.

Your question, Sorrano, is far too long for me to comprehend. Can you shorten it please into something more bite-sized (similar in size to a "pill", shall we say?).

Seeing as the blogger's definition is - "a term used to describe a really cool guy", I would say not.

I feel that I might get a bit winded on that one.

Yeah, I'm breathless with anticipation, Sorrano, as you can imagine. Add laughing icon !
I know this is a Beethoven forum (quick, whilst Peter and Chris are looking elsewhere...), but please check out the Bruckner Journal link I posted you. It's OK, a bit "Bruckner Hi-Fi Club" at times, but there are some good articles by Bruckner specialists.
