Who conducted the SPCM version? Those revisions are only in the spirit of Bruckner's own revisionism.

This morning: Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 9 in E Major (Barenboim). Also, Mozart Piano Concerto #21.

This evening Performance Today presented Mendelssohn's "Ein Feste Burg" Symphony. Ok, ok, the "Reformation" Symphony. Mendelssohn was not too pleased with this work, but I find it very enjoyable.

Occasionally, listverse.com lists various classical music topics, such as greatest this or that, mostly based on the opinion(s) of the site authors. This evening they featured the top 10 greatest ballets; the interest I have in it is that there are excerpts to these that are usually from youtube. Some of the selections I've been listening are from Swan Lake (Tchaikovsky), Romeo and Juliet (Prokofiev), La Bayader (Minkus), Gisele (Adam), Don Quixote (Minkus), and Cinderlla (Prokofiev). There were others, but that's all I had time for.

Yes I agree - I heard a performance at last years BBC proms which was very rousing. They also performed the first two symphonies which are also neglected and of course overshadowed by 3 and 4.

                        Stravinsky Pulcinella Suite.

Megan, the Bruckner choral works are outstanding! It's a pity we do not hear them more often.
