    Sydney Symphony Orchestra on European Tour with Ashkenazy

    I've just received an email detailing the forthcoming European tour by the SSO with their artistic director, Vladimir Ashkenazy:

    Stresa
    Lucerne
    London
    Wiesbaden,
    Bremen,
    Amsterdam,
    Edinburgh,
    Grafenegg

    Touring from 22 August to 4 September.

    Hope some of you can get to hear them!

      The program goes as follows:

      24/8 London (Proms) Strauss: "Der Rosenkavalier" Suite
      Ravel: Piano Concerto in G(Helene Grimaud, piano)
      Scriabin: The Divine Poem (Symp. No. 3)

      1/9 Edinburgh Elgar: "In the South" (Alassio)
      Edwards: Maninyas - Violin Concerto (new work) - Dene Olding, violin
      Sculthorpe: Memento mori
      Elgar: "Enigma" Variations

      2/9 Edinburgh Sibelius: Rakastava (The Lover) Op. 14
      Ravel: Piano Concerto in G (Helene Grimaud)
      Hindson: New work (can't read my handwriting!)
      Strauss: "Der Rosenkavalier" Suite

      The new works are all by Australian composers.
