Just watched Fidelio (with subtitles!) Wonderful performance with a very evil Pizarro!
My misfortune is doubly painful, I was bound to be misunderstood. LvB

Listening to Chopin's Grand Duo Concertant in E major. A good piece, sadly omitted on many discs of Chopin's chamber music, possibly because the work was written jointly with Auguste Franchomme, though he only produced the cello part, while Chopin produced the piano part and came up with the overall structure of the work.

Greetings from Germany (Altrip, a village near Mannheim, and only 4 hours or so from Bonn...).

Monteverdi : L'Orfeo, directed by Sergio Vartolo, with an un-named instrumental ensemble playing on period instruments. Recorded in the Auditorium of Pigna, Corsica, in 2006. Brilliant Classics CD 93103 (2-CD set).
I have no specific comments to make at this juncture; I am simply seeking corroborative material for my "Orpheus" thread.

Nothing specific (or at least, nothing you would find notated), because it's late, my family is sleeping and I don't dare put on the HiFi to listen to whatever. So : the sound of the central heating (yes, up and running even today, mid May), the local church bell (which tolls at all hours [every quarter], but not too loud), my irregular breathing and, I fancy, my heartbeat, which in reality I don't hear but perceive. I hear, so I am, to paraphrase Descartes. Back to Strasbourg tomorrow, so I hope I have something more "concrete" (or concrète? Hah!) to report. Not that you would all care, anyway.

Bonn, why is it so cold? Are the seasons different where you live than in America? It has been around 70 degrees where I live- which is quite, quite- nice, !

Preston, our summer is Australia's winter.

This morning the radio presented some of Stravinsky's orchestral miniatures.

Thanks Sorrano! I guess the southern hemisphere would be opposite.

It isn't that cold in parts of Australia even now - Bonn1827 means 19 centigrade which is nearly 70F and that's their autumn (fall)!
