Peter your advises are exactly what I would have said if I had been there before !

We can have differents ideas about conductors but about teaching we are going in the same direction....

By the way, Peter, when you say a piece is a certain "grade," on what scale is that? I have always been told that there were many different standards out there for judging the technical difficulty of a piece.

I'm going by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music's examination system. The Grades go from 1-8. An average pupil takes about a year to complete a grade - an outstanding pupil may get to Grade 8 after only 4 years! Most of Beethoven is beyond Grade 7, though that shouldn't put keen students off from attempting some of the more accessable works, even if it is only one movement from a sonata. After grade 8, students who wish to continue with music usually go to one of the Music Colleges in London or Manchester where hopefully they graduate with a diploma in either teaching or performing.

Anyone learning other Beethoven pieces at the moment?

Just reading through old topics. And I regret to inform that my Piano sonatas book is sitting in my locker collecting dust! So sorry. i have been to buisy with exams. But I promise that I have listened to enough Beethoven to make my Father go nuts! And scince I purhased this new water resistant radio and put it in to the shower, I never wasnt to get out! I seem to go through vases, at one stage I will play (myself on an instrument) ALOT of music or listen to it. I can never seem to balance the two. Also my composer vases (which I have mentioned befor) are very powerful! I am listening to alot of Beethoven and Mozart at the moment, mainly Piano works. I do not like listening to Mozarts symphoies as the oboe parts nearly killed me a year ago!

oboe_15-VERY SOON oboe_16, September the 25th is the day I expect my present!

            Beethoven and all composers Rock!

My music teacher (and private) whom I have alot of discussions with went to the Royal Academy of Music. And she is just the best Pianist that I have ever me in my life! And I have met Vladimir Ashkenazy! I think that she is just the lovliest person. She studied oboe under Professor Brain (yes, and that is no typo) and he specialised in Cor Anglaise (like I hope to) I presume he has died, but is there anyone who has heard of this man?
I hope to go to the Royal academy so I can come and see you (British that is) all and see what you are really like! (might get a shock he he he)
