the conductor is certainly energetic... and competent... but the interpretation leaves much to be desired...

I saw this entire broadcast on PBS the other night. Dudamel is new in town (Los Angeles). He arrives amid great fanfare.
His Beethoven was decent, but it didn't exactly replace George Szell & Cleveland in my mind. Call me an old fart, stuck in the nostalgic past.

I watched some of this also. I did not see the entire performance, which was unfortunate.
David do you recall what the first piece played was? Was it by John Adams?
