Spent the morning listening to the Sex Pistols but I will get more up to date with some rap in the afternoon.

I've been drinking a little Guinness this lunchtime (draught beer, but in a can, would you believe!?). This must be the reason why I don't understand "celebrating the day that's in it". Sorry.

Just a thought : wasn't Peter going to launch a programme music thread?

Odd comment in this thread - weren't you going to reply to the Pierre Schaeffer article?

Listening to de Falla's Nights in the Gardens of Spain and Byrd's Infelix ego - both at the same time in true Cageian fashion.

I was. And I will. And you?

I'm listening to the sounds of helicopters flying around as they prepare for the NATO summit this coming Friday and Saturday. No joke : I live in the city centre, which has been designated a "red zone". If I want to go shopping I have to carry a special orange "badge" in order to be let through the barricades. Talk about a siege!

PS : I still don't understand Michael's "celebrating the day that's in it". Did I drink too much Guinness at lunchtime?

Well done, Michael, I should have known better!

And, as yesterday was, indeed, the first of April the local classical music radio station played several works of the infamous P.D.Q. Bach. A couple of the selections I was able to tune into were the masterpieces, the Schleptet in E Flat and "Iphigenia in Brookland".

I love the Schleptet - didn't he write a ninnet as well? Good old PDQ!
Listening still to the other son CPE and his excellent Wurttemberg sonatas.

There's just so many of them - a glance at this family tree is of interest, though they've left out poor old PDQ for some unfathomable reason!
