Look at the first paragraph of the NYT article:in the original version S. talks about the NINTH, in Italy they have translated into the THIRD. Perhaps the translator preferred it.
Long life to Beethoven!

I would love to see that exhibit. It should come on tour here to Vienna, Austria.
Schroeder has always been my favorite Peanuts character. Back in 1973 for my 3rd year french class in high school, we were divided into groups and each group had to put on a skit in french. My group did skits from the "Peanuts" comic strips. I was Schroeder (wearing a Beethoven sweatshirt) and even had a kids sized piano with one of my own Beethoven busts sitting on top of it. We were a hit! Needless to say, our group got an "A" from our french teacher for our performance, thanks to Charles Schulz and Beethoven.Last edited by Hollywood; 01-31-2009, 08:17 AM."God knows why it is that my pianoforte music always makes the worst impression on me, especially when it is played badly." -Beethoven 1804.

That's not surprising as Schultz had been adding Beethoven to his comic strips since the 50's. I had a fun exchange with him when I met him in California several years ago and we talked about Beethoven and the Peanuts gang. Such fun and what a nice, quiet man he was. He was gracious enough to give me his autograph on one of my Peanut's book!'Truth and beauty joined'
