For some real piano pyrotechnics try this Prokofiev toccata - I'm not sure who's playing!

This is the Elgar Violin Concerto with Nigel Kennedy Taken from the very recent Proms series I don't know how the guy managed to record this - I suspect by copying it from BBC i player but how, I have no idea.

The following five parts of the recording can be accessed through the links on the side of the screen (but don't forget to watch on full screen)

The quality is surprisingly good - and the live effects (such as Nigel Kennedy's foot hitting the boards at occasional moments) should not detract from a supreme and highly charged performance – some say this is the greatest violin concerto ever written

Beethoven: String Quartet, Op.135 (Part 1)

This has existed on YouTube since mid 2006 so all here might already know it. I myself discovered it last night while testing the new Flash Player 10 (which to my decrepit ears "might" offer audio improvement over FP9x). I link only the first moment, but the others are all there and easy enough to find.

          Good listening!

Peter, WOW! I have never heard that piece before.

I heard some members talk about Joseph Martin Kraus. So I couldn't withhold this link from you.
It's the first movement of a piano-trio in D major by Kraus. Lovely music and also lovely execution on period instruments.

              Enjoy.

Here is a good documentary on Segovia, called "The Song of the Guitar". The video is on Google Video.

Note to the administrator(s): I think the YouTube recommendations should be kept in a special place on the list. If possible, commentary (such as this one) can be left off; then we can have a nice reference point for such recommendations.
