    The Happiest music

I think the gloomy thread needs an antedote so I nominate Mozart's piano concerto in A last movement and the first movt of Schubert's 5th. For Beethoven I'd pick the first movement of the 4th symphony (not the introduction though!).

The 3rd and 4th mm of the 7th symphony! Funny but some of us also added the 2nd mm of this symphony to the saddest music thread. Also the 4th mm of the 5th symphony makes me smile although that could be called majestic and powerful music as well.

                  Some Cheerful Musical Moments

My most favourite of the happy moments...

                  Mozart - K.387 - 4th movement
LVB - String Quartet #8 -first movement
LVB - the whole of the Triple Concerto
LVB - the whole of the Waldstein Sonata
Mendelsohn - Midsummer's Night Dream Overture
Mendelsohn - the whole of the String Octet
                  Brahms - Academic Overture
LVB - Consecration of the House
Mozart - The Magic Flute Overture
Mendelsohn - The very last part of the Scottish Symphony #3
                  Schuman - Symphony #2 - Movements 1, 2 and 4

and the list is only begun!!!

Must it be? It must be!

                        2. Scherzo from Beethoven's 3rd Symphony (as kinetic a display of the Life Force as any in music)

                        3. Herbert Stothart's martial theme march from the Oz entrance in "The Wizard of Oz"

Well, thanks, Susan that was good to hear again. Now that song will be in my head all day, won't be able to get rid of it! It's one of those tunes you know!

I was having an x-ray a few years ago, Joy, and the radioligist kept humming this tune. I was half-sedated and I muttered: "Baby Elephant Walk". The radiologist said: "That's the name of the bloody tune! It's been going round in my head all day and I couldn't identify it! I can't stop humming it and I don't even like it!"

I find when I'm working at home, that a tune will creep into my head and I just cannot get rid of it. Currently it's the second movement of "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" which I like - but not that much! Any suggestions for a cure?
