    Something to look forward to!

    I have just received notification from the Schubert scholar, Professor Brian Newbould. His completion of the piano sonata in C, D.840 ('Reliquie'), is due to appear in May on the Toccata Classics label.

    Can you provide more info? Will this be a particularly good recording, and why?

      Dear Susan;

      It is my understanding that Schubert did not complete the third and fourth movements. There were two prior attempts to complete them. Now, a leading Schubert scholar, Professor Brian Newbould, has completed them.

        Hm... How much of these movements did Schubert actually complete himself?

          The Deutsch Catalog does not say how incomplete these movements are. In the 1920's, two attempts were made to complete them. Now, Professor Newbould has made an attempt. He did excellent work completing Schubert's 7th and 10th symphomies, keeping very close to the thematic material at his disposal and Schuberts indications.
