    Quare: Copying Beethoven

In the movie, they mentioned that the chorus would be on-stage for two whole hours. Would they actually be standing there doing nothing during other pieces of music? The Ninth usually takes about 1 hour 15 minutes or so now - was it longer then?

There were 3 items on the programme - the overture 'Consecration of the house', 3 movements from the Missa Solemnis and finally the 9th.

Would the hundred singers be on stage throughout, or would they walk on for the Ninth?

They would obviously have been there for the 3 Mass pieces which came immediately before the 9th. Regarding being on stage, I'm not sure about this - the orchestral layout was different from today and I recall reading somewhere that the orchestra would not have been on stage and that the choir were placed in front of the orchestra - anyone else help with this?
