In the movie, they mentioned that the chorus would be on-stage for two whole hours. Would they actually be standing there doing nothing during other pieces of music? The Ninth usually takes about 1 hour 15 minutes or so now - was it longer then?

There were 3 items on the programme - the overture 'Consecration of the house', 3 movements from the Missa Solemnis and finally the 9th.'Man know thyself' -
Would the hundred singers be on stage throughout, or would they walk on for the Ninth?Comment

They would obviously have been there for the 3 Mass pieces which came immediately before the 9th. Regarding being on stage, I'm not sure about this - the orchestral layout was different from today and I recall reading somewhere that the orchestra would not have been on stage and that the choir were placed in front of the orchestra - anyone else help with this?'Man know thyself'Comment
