It must be a Beethoven morning, already on the radio has been Beethoven's Sextet for Winds, his Symphony #8, and his Piano Sonata No. 25 in G Op 79 which is a delightful piece.

Joy, didn't you mean kv.381?
well I had the opportunity to go to a free concert thursday, the programme was Brahms' 1st symphony in c minor, Rach's 2nd pianoconcerto in C minor and the ouverture to il barbier di seviglia by Rossini. It was performed by the Symphonic orchestra of my school and students had free access. Wonderful account, it's so thrilling to see and hear pieces like this live, I never heard the brahms before and I was very pleasantly surprised.

The 6 Quartets for Strings from Op 18 - The Smithson Quartet - Deutsche Harmonia Mundi. Very nice (HIP) performances on a set that is out of print, and which I feel fortunate to have found in "Used, like new" condition on a web site in Germany. It cost a bloody fortune to ship to Texas, but worth every penny!
Regards,
Gurn
