    Copying Beethoven showing in Amsterdam?

I've got a "free" plane ticket to Amsterdam. Does the film open there first week of April 2007? I'll be in London anyway so may just decide to make a weekend of it!

I found something on youtube...a moment out of the film copying beethoven, not the trailer but a scene.it lasts 2.37 min.

Very touching, but I don't think Beethoven would have conducted a conversation with a lady whilst in bed .

We got very mixed critical response in the U.S., but the big ones - the New York Times, the Washington Post and the Chicago papers - praised the film. The boxoffice in the U.S. has not been good, and the limited release has been further limited. I must tell you that I have been keenly disappointed by the marketing effort for this film, which has been lackluster and unimaginative in my view. However, the film opened in Spain to very good response and has made nearly a million dollars there, which is quite remarkable for that market. It will continue opening worldwide over the next couple of months, and I will post the countries as soon as I learn them. Please have patience; we are hoping for great things abroad.
I'm sorry for not participating in this topic, I've been an observer of all the movie information. Just to provide you some facts. In Barcelona, Spain where I live, is being showed in 5 cinemas, 4 in spanish, 1 in english with subtitles. The critics I've red are positive ("la guia del ocio", a guide of activities in Barcelona mentions as the only negative point that the end, more than the end of a movie, looks more as an arbitrary "cut" on a timeline) and all coincide generally speaking in that: the movie succeeds avoiding the traditional biopic cliches, ed harris performance is good enough to talk about oscar nomination (and one points out that Diane Kruger balances the scene when Harris is acting in the most passionate passages of the film), the ability of the director to visually reflect inner conflicts. Notrofilms.com, a movies' website synthetizes reviews by major spanish newspapers and all are positive.

As a point of interest for the members of the forum, classical music assistants of two of the biggest Barcelona record shops ("fnac" and the local "discos castello") have mentioned that on top of Christmas season traditional increase of sales, they're noticing the influence of the film since they've almost run out of LvB symphonies and had to order to distributors to have records available!!

I doubt very much aswell that this amadeus-ripp-off scene would occur in real live...but it did offer a glimpse off the movie for those whom hadn't seen it. and I must say I was quite impressed with ed harris so far.

It looks like this is the last week at the Landmark Bethesda theater in Bethesda, MD.

I read on Variety that C B will be at a festival named Goya or something else, probably in Spain (or Mexico?), Perhaps mr. Srivele knows more...

Well, I think he would if, as in the film, he was deathly ill. Don't you? He did talk to people on his death bed.

As I understand it, the film has been nominated for a Goya Award, as the best European film of the year.

A very merry Christmas to everyone on this site, and thank you for your input, support, and enthusiasm for our film! It has meant a great deal to us, and has, in very real ways, influenced the making of the movie. I hope that the new year brings all the joy and beauty of Beethoven's music into your lives.

Danke Stephen for your Christmas wishes. I too wish you and the others here in this forum a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and Happy New Year 2007.

We are still waiting for your film to come to us here in Austria. It would make a lovely birthday present for me if it were to arrive in Vienna around the 3rd of May.

Thank you very much ruudp, that was great, literally. It was very touching, pleasant to hear him talk, the words he said were amazing.

It was sad to hear him talk of his struggle but yet it was really moving to hear him say about being "finally free". I think that is what he was talking about?

That was very good, I said I thought Gary Oldman did a good job, I guess now, I don't think that. I knew Beethoven talked of the problems in the world, struggle, religion, life, etc., I just didn't know he could speak so open about things. What I mean is I knew that he knew about those things, I didn't know that he had the ability to express them with other humans.

You see the other movies Ed Harris did, and then you see something like this... it is very different for me. I don't know if it is Ed Harris' acting or if it is me thinking he is doing it.

Thank you mr.Rivele. The movie is about to open in Brazil (and I hope I'm back before it closes, I'm in Germany now, vacation), with the name "Helping Beethoven" (the translation of names there is one strange thing).
One of the major magazines there has given the ravest review, but I don't have a copy here. As soon as I get it again I'll translate it for you.
One of the things I remember is at the end, where they say that "Harris has done what was thought impossible, as Bruno Ganz did for Hitler, by giving Beethoven this human dimension".
                                "Wer ein holdes Weib errungen..."

"My religion is the one in which Haydn is pope." - by me .
