biographical question
I am trying to validate the comment made to me that Beethoven was the 13 child of a father with syphallis. Can anyone help?

Ludwig van Beethoven was the 2nd (and first surviving) child of Johann Van Beethoven and Maria Keverich. In all they had seven children, only 3 of whom survived. I am not aware of any evidence to suggest the father (Johann Van Beethoven) had syphilis but he did suffer from alcoholism in later life.
