While we're all waiting for this Ed-Harris-as-Beethoven movie to make its way into theaters, I thought maybe we'd enjoy watching, scoffing at, groaning at & beating up on some cinematic "home" jobs, courtesy of YouTube.

Yahoo's MOVIES: Coming Soon lists "Copying Beethoven" as opening October 13, Limited (meaning it's not going to be as widely distributed as Star Wars).

Bah, "Limited"... Does that mean I have to drive to New York City to see it? Well, I'll just have to wait for the DVD then.

But really, that's actually good news. I hope it does well, I hope people like it, and I hope it doesn't upset the Beethoven fanatics with abundant inaccuracies.

I suppose there are different degrees of limitedness. It might mean that there will be a test run in one theater in New York and one in California, but it probably means that it will be in a few theaters in every major city. For example, in the Washington DC area where I live, it could play at the Avalon in DC and/or at the Bethesda Landmark, but it probably won't open right away at the Germantown Cineplex or the Rockville Regal. Check your local listings now, and see if they're showing, say, "An Inconvenient Truth," or "Half Nelson," or "Factotum," or "Heading South," or "My Country." If you have a theater showing one or more of those, it's a good candidate to also show "Copying Beethoven." Also, you can ask the theater manager at your local theaters if they're planning to run "Copying Beethoven." If you and your brothers and nieces all ask, maybe it will stir enough interest that he'll run it. Most chain theater managers don't have much discretion, they run what they're given, but if they see patron interest, I'm sure they can request it from the chain.

Hmm, I've never even heard of those movies you mentioned, sjwenger. But I did check local theaters here and the largest one I know of (18 screens) isn't showing any of those movies you listed. I would make a request like you suggested, but they're still showing Pirates of the Caribbean 2, so I guess they're more interested in money-making rather than exposing obscure films to the public.

Well, I'll see it one day. I was just hoping to camp out at the theaters, you know, two weeks before the showing with my Beethoven wig, a fake music manuscript in one hand and my early 19th century costume. Star Wars has its geeks, why can't "Copying Beethoven" have them too?

Me too, I think. Oh no, I hope, I can’t wait to see...Great we still have an oportunity to see such movie about Beethoven, movie that seems to be beautiful and well done, indeed.

That's what's playing at the theaters in my area that usually run artsy stuff. Maybe they're just old movies or something. (Well, I did see "An Inconvenient Truth" there - that's the Al Gore slideshow movie. It never came to the local big-screen theaters here.

No, they'll hold these cineplexes for the really GOOD movies like 'Beerfest' and 'Jackass Number 2'! Oh, well, Ho Hum, Sigh!

Here is a website for the Toronto Film Festival but I really didn't find anything,
                                http://news.google.com/news?q=toront...=news&ct=title

If you type in 'Toronto Film Festival' at 'Google' a lot comes up but I haven't had the time to look into it further, I just got back from vacation. I think Stephen said it will be out after that date and into November.
