    Bach's Manuscript Found!

Here's an article about a newly found Bach and Pachelbel's lost manuscript,
"The oldest known manuscripts of Johann Sebastian Bach have been discovered in a library in Weimar, the same library where a previously undiscovered aria by Bach was found last year. The two manuscripts date from around 1700 and are copies the 15-year-old Bach made of organ music composed by Buxtehude and Reinken. Also found were two previously unknown fantasias by Johann Pachelbel, copied by bach's student Johann Schubart."

Well, not that exciting if it's just a copied piece of music. I think it would be of more interest to handwiting experts. Still, some people are easily pleased.

What I meant was things like this are useful as they help in the assessment of the authenticity of more important finds by looking at the handwriting, presuming this current find is authentic of course. But I suggest it's musical value is minimal, other than indicates what Bach was conserning himself with musically at the time.

Well, I don't think the Bach "copies" were the highlight here. I'm more curious about the "previously unknown fantasias" of Pachelbel. Maybe they can finally record something besides the Canon in D now.

Well I agree but the title of this chain happens to be 'Bach's Manuscript Found!'
