Anyone waiting on tender hooks for Vol.2 of Paul Lewes's complete Beethoven Piano Sonata circle (like me!)can obtain it early from Australia. It has been released there first to coincide with Paul's tour. It will not be released here until the end of October, so I am told.

Don't know about Paul Lewes, I recommend people look out for Ronald Brautigam's complete B sonatas series on fortepiano. Up to vol 3 released so far.

I just received (yesterday, in fact) Claude Frank's reissued Beethoven sonata cycle on the Music & Arts label. Not only am I very happy with Frank's playing & interpretation, but the sound is outstanding, too. Frank studied with Schnabel, & you can hear pleasing little Schnabelisms in Frank's playing.
