Beethoven Cycle at the Edinburgh Festival

Yes, all 9 symphonies will be performed in a series of concerts in the Usher Hall, starting at the unusual time of 5.30pm.

Even more unusually all tickets cost a standard £10 and they are selling like hotcakes I can tell you!

The 9th (on Sep 1) has been sold out for some time. I'm going to hear the 3rd, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th. Each concert is a single symphony performed by the SCO except for the 9th which is performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra.

I love it when there is a full house and even more when many of the heads are certainly not grey! This is terribly important if Beethoven's music is to continue to be performed live.
