    On This Day!

    In 1707 -- German organist and composer Dietrich Buxtehude dies in Luebeck. In 1705 J.S. Bach traveled 200 miles on foot to hear Buxtehude play.

    Can you imagine traveling 200 miles on foot anywhere much less to hear someone play? Wow!

    Dear Joy;

    Actually, we all missed the date of 7 May 1800, Beethoven's only public concert in Budapest. Beethoven performed with the horn player Punto at the Castle Theater on Castle Hill in Buda. He lodged later that night at the residence of Marie Erdody, not far from Castle theater.
