    On This Day!

1655 -- The Italian harpsichord maker credited with inventing the piano, Bartolomeo Cristofori, is born in Padua.

I thought the pianists on this forum would enjoy this one!

Cheers for Cristofori! Now all we need is Silbermann on the scenes and Mozart and Clementi can get things started.

I've just downloaded the two Scarlatti tracks. I like the andante, though the fugue is forgetable, at least played as it is here.

The piano sounds musical though a little rough as one might expect. The tone slightly muted in these tracks compared to what I was expecting, though this could just be the result of the recording, or perhaps there is a mute stop on the instrument.

How interesting! Looks like the piano I got to to play while I was at the Beethoven's Museum in San Jose, California only an older version. Sounded a lot like the harpischord. Too bad there weren't more songs to hear, enjoyed those a lot, could have heard more!
