Do you have this CD of Norrington's
Dear Rod,
You have me dead to rights. Please accept my apologies. I took a dislike to Norrington a long time ago. At that time I lived in apartments & did most of my music listening via headphones, which can make one hypercritical.
So in the belief that I've never thrown out a CD, I took my Norrington collection for a spin. Beethoven 4 & 5, and the Emperor & Choral Fantasia.
I've spun them around now about four times each & although I've been distracted & have never properly listened to them once, I confess I cannot find anything to fault in the symphonies. Various passages make me wish I would sit still long enough to listen properly.
The piano works, on the other hand, are marred by Melvyn Tann's weak, darkly colored piano. Give me another ten years, and, deafened by age, I might just like them, too.
