    I suspect it might be my ghetto blaster as it will be a short civic affair. But you can't beat Handel for ceremonial music, although it would be great (and quite amusing) to have the pompous military march from Fidelio for a wedding!

      Well, Beethoven did write a wedding song, Hess 125. You can hear it on the Unheard Beethoven Site.

        Somehow I don't think this midi would sound effective at a wedding ceremony, also I was thinking of a genuine moderato march, which 'Triumph Hymen' is. I wonder if the Hess piece is recorded in DGs pseudo 'complete works' collection?

          Dear Rod;

          I do believe that DG has recorded it.

          I think that the "Triumph March" from "King Stephen" would make a nice wedding march, certainly a better choice than the march from Fidelio that was suggested by another forum member.

            Thanks for that suggestion. I will take it into consideration.

            Anyone have other suggestions on what Beethoven's pieces could be played at a wedding/reception?

              Why, of course the joyous, wonderful, exhuberant 'Gratulations' Minuet for orchestra in E flat WoO 3 by a certain Maestro Herr Ludwig van Beethoven !

                I have the King Stephen music, but about Fidelio, that forum member was me! I was kind of joking, kind of...

                  Not a bad idea Robert. Trouble is all the music suggested in this chain is really too good for a wedding, it would become a distraction.
