I particularly love the Andante from Beethoven's 5th, it's wonderful! But really, the whole symphony is great! I used to hate it because it was overplayed but not anymore.

Hi Teresa, The 5th Symphony of Beethoven is one of a kind! The adante is wonderful and I love the first movement also. It is played a lot but I never t ire of it. The fourth movement is absolutely phenominal as well. The whole symphony can't be beat!

Tonight on NPR they're continuing the Mozart celebration comprising of other composers who loved Mozart as well. Some notes:

"Mozart was Tchaikovsky's hero. The Russian composer was so enamored of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, that he made a Russian translation of the opera. Then he wrote a Suite called "Mozartiana," using some of his favorite Mozart melodies. JoAnn Falletta will conduct the Buffalo Philharmonic in the Suite No. 4 by Tchaikovsky, "Mozartiana."

Also tonight Rachmaninoff's version of a 200-year-old pop tune also the inspiration for his tune written in 1934, when he wrote his Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. The Philharmonie in Luxembourg with pianist Nikolai Lugansky as the soloist, and the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Emmanuel Krivine.

          Hi, Joy,

You sound like me - you like a little of everything, so I'll pass this along to you and all the others. I've found a great site called Live365 that has about any kind of music you could want. I sit at a computer all day and yesterday I just wanted straight classical piano music so I went on the Internet to look for a radio site that might have this, and stumbled across the Live365 site. It's fantastic! You can get the free version, with advertisements, of course, but I opted to join the preferred members version for $5.95 a month, to me very much worth it as I listen all day, 5 days a week. The site is www.live365.com, if you are interested.

          Regards,
          Teresa

Thank you Teresa and Bobbie for some nice sites of classical music. I like the selection of Baroque, early classical, piano, etc. Here's a site to my classical radio station which I have on nearly all day every day. They play some beautiful music here and also throw in some interesting information about the composers and their music. http://kbaq.rio.maricopa.edu/

Also noted The Phoenix Symphony is having a Mozart festival in celebration of his 250th birthday all through the month of January and February. Some beautiful pieces will be performed during that time.

My husband likes Debussy; some of his pieces are ok, but he's really too contemporary for me.

This morning I listened to Chopin's nocturnes. So soothing and so lovely.
