On NPR tonight playing Beethoven's Wind Sextet, Op. 71. Some background according to the program "Performance Today": "When Beethoven was in his 20s, he moved to Vienna and started hustling commissions. He never really did get a full-time job at court, but he wrote lots of music that paid the bills. His Wind Sextet, Op. 71, may have been one of those bread-and-butter pieces. He wrote it in a single night in 1796. The Harmonie Octett of Moscow will play it from a concert recorded in Saeby (SAY-bu), Denmark".
