    Egmont in Budapest

    I have just returned from Budapest On 23 October, Hungary celebrated the 1956 revolution against the Soviet Union. Loudspeakers were set up on the sidewalks along the river and Beethoven's Egmont Overture was played nonstop all day.

    Yes, indeed.
    The Hungarian radio had not other accessible recording but the Egmont Overture in those dramatic days.
    The revolution of 1956 and the Egmont are inseparable for us since that time.
