Over a period of 10 days this October there will be 3 Beethoven concerts.
The first (Oct 1) is the opening concert of the RSNO's season. Its new principal conductor will conduct B's 9th at the Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow.
The following Thursday (Oct 6) there will be a concert performance of Fidelio in the Usher Hall to mark the 80th birthday of Sir Charles Mackkeras and his eminence will indeed conduct.
Finally on the Monday (Oct 10) the up-and-coming young British pianist Paul Lewis starts his piano sonata cycle (8 concerts over the next 2 years!) at the Queen's Hall, Edinburgh.
So who needs to live in London to hear our hero's music live?
Mind you, as I live in Glasgow I'll still need to take the car to Edinburgh! I suppose it's a little annoying Glasgow doesn't have a decent chamber music venue...
