In this manner they are so beautiful to me when I start one of my rare litenings to them, just great! For myself I find them too good to listen too much to them. They are just something special.

I agree with you! I find them all very special and play them occasionally, too much of a good thing you know! When you haven't heard them for a while, they sound so fresh and 'new' again! But you did give me a taste so I think I shall try to squeeze in Beethoven's 3rd somewhere today!

Ah yes, Pastorali, I love Beethoven's renewing and healing Symphony, it is lovely to be reminded of the wonders of nature on a cold dark winters evening.

                Radio listening this am:

                Haydn's Symphony no. 83, 'Imperial'
                La Petit Band

                Telemann, Trumpet Concerto no.1
                Drottningholm Ensemble

                Wonderful music!

Has Gurn gone AWOL ? Hope he is OK.

                  Amalie,
No, he's OK, just preternaturally busy these days. I DO still listen to some music though! , just no time to write about it. Today, however, I have listened to the Symhony in d minor - #9 - Op 125 - Beethoven. Chamber Orchestra of Europe / Harnoncourt. Good version, singing is very nice, and the tempi are good too. Even though I am not Harnoncourt's biggest fan, I think he did well by Beethoven here.
Also had time for a 5 mile slog through the rain and mud for a round of golf, so the tradition lives on, despite all odds
Best wishes to ya'll, hope we are back to normal soon!

Anyone familiar with Sir Granville Bantock (not sure of the spelling and I'm too lazy to run upstairs to get the cd)? I've been listening to some selections of his and will be listening soon to his Talabatha (again, not sure of the spelling on that). I find his music likeable.

                          Sorrano,
I have heard a little of Sir Granville Bantock, I was unable to find the piece you refered to though (Talabatha). Apparently his music seems to have fallen out of fashion.

My listening this morning includes a lovely piece by Clara Schumann: Variations on a theme of Robert Schumann.0p.20/Angela Cheng [piano]

On one corner, Oistrakh, Rostropovich & Richter playing Beethoven triple concerto in C, op. 56 (Karajan Berlin Philharmonic). on the other, Heifetz, Feuermann & Rubinstein playing Beethoven Piano Trio in B-flat "Archduke" op. 97 and Schubert Piano trio in b-flat no.1, op.99, d.898.
On the bench, Chopin's 14 waltzes by Rubinstein, 1953.

                            That's what I call a line-up!
