    Missa Solemnis.
I must agree with you Gregorian_
The Benedictus from the 'Sanctus' is
truly heavenly. Never again in music will you discover anything as stunningly radiant and soul-searing as this particular passage.

For me the first movement of Moonlight is overwhelming.

I find it so powerfull and loving all at the same time. My wife plays it with such emotion that almost drives me to tears....

Bravo! Also the Cavatina from the Op. 130 quartet.

The late quartets are the master's greatest achievements, I am very surprised that so few have mentioned them.

Absolutely, slow movement from Op.127 is wonderful as are those from Op.132 and Op.135. Mahler was surely influenced by these.

the fugue on "et vitam venturi" from the Missa solemnis...beautifully done and with that whole work Beethoven can take his place beside Bach

The most beautiful work by B is his string quartet #15 in A minor. This work took years for me to understand because it's not the most accessible of B's pieces, but when I finally did grasp it's genius, it was a great experience. Do yourself a favor and listen to it!

I'd have to go along with Tempest, Violin Concerto and Piano 5th as my top 3 with the entire 4th movement of the 9th symphony as beyond compare, but I do wonder if anyone has a digital copy of the slow movement of the piano 5th. I am teaching a class in 2 days and need something I can excerpt for the students to look at.

I might have to write down every single piece of B.'s music that I've ever heard... but I'll try to fit in
Well, my all time favourites would be:
                            -Violine Concerto op.61 /esspecially the Laretto/
-The first movement of the "Pathetic"
                            -"Egmont"
                            -"Coriulanus"
                            -The "Moonlight sonata"
                            -The 9th Symphony /esspecially the last movement/
                            And many,many more ))
