Yes and his father Adam Liszt was a steward who looked after the sheep of Prince Esterhazy (some 4000 of them) and also played the 'cello in the court orchestra under Haydn. Indeed later Liszt said 'father went for walks with Haydn every day'.
Now that's an interesting story, Peter, I must confess I didn't know that! 4,000 sheep?
I hope he had some border collies to help him! I wonder what he and Hadyn talked about on their daily walks. Oh,to be a 'fly on the wall' or in the field, as it were, would have been very interesting, I'm sure.
