on this day july the 31st 1886 Ferenc or franz Liszt died in bayreuth at the cause of pneumonia.
He was in bayreuth to attend the wagnerfeast of his deceiced son in law Richard Wagner.He dies in the loving care of his daughter and widow of Wagner Cosima.Cosima was the 'product' of his relationship with comtesse marie d'Agoult.. who bore him 3 children

I seem to recall there was a great deal of controversy regarding Cosima's 'loving care' for her father in his last days! They were not close and had a strained relationship - in her own words 'his death for me was nothing other than the last 25 years of his life.'

Sounds like July was a not a good month for a lot of composers. Here's some information about his three children; "Liszt himself began a ten year relationship with Marie d'Agoult who left her husband in 1835 to elope with Liszt to Switzerland where he taught at the Geneva Conservatoire. They had three children, Blandine, born in December of that year; Cosima in 1837, and Daniel in 1839."
