Joseph Haydn, Concerto for Trumpet & Orchestra in E-flat. English Chamber Orchstra - W. Marsalis. Good stuff!

Yes, my favorite version of that work. I guess it takes a jazz musician to play it properly, as I am sure Papa had in mind when he wrote it

    Amalie,
I am sure that you sell yourself short, likely dulcet tones would issue forth! Hard to be dulcet in a canon, at least if done properly. I think Pastorali does them, and I also, so perhaps we each take one voice...

Now comes the Concerto in E major for Violin & Orchestra - #1 - Op 10 - Henri Vieuxtemps. Splendid work, of course it would be since virtuoso violin was his specialty.

I love these Canons! And all the children in the quater too, because I played them some this week, they love the donkey hiiiiiiiii....haaaaa!!!! For an internet broadcast I would make the conductor and controler of lyrics, to bring all the Oxford english, drawl, Hickanese and Swiss german under one hat.

Gurn, pretty exotic sounds today, not? I am gone of course back to the Maestro:
      Violin Concerto Op.61, Op.40 & 50
F.P. Zimmermann & English Chamber Orchestra
It goes on this way the next 6 hours...

Leadbelly's classic 1935-43 recordings. Amazing sonic restoration here. Unbelievable!
A NAXOS recording no less. I have to check out some of thier other "folk series" recordings!

Yes, you could direct and produce this affair, the children will sing the chorus. Excellent! Oh yes, very exotic! And some more now, Vieuxtemps concerto in f# minor - #2 - Op 19 - Vieuxtemps was the kapellmeister of the Russian court in late 19th century, right after retirement of Wieniawski, 2 of the great violinists of their time. I am guessing the Czar was afflicted with "fiddle fondness", as I am too. Perhaps I am the missing Romanov?

Imaginable you are the missing Romeo and Juliet is that well known, lovely dancing plum maiden 'Dragées'.
I am on a serious way with the Choral Fantasy, Op.80, but now you brought it in my mind, maybe I will crack some nuts this night... OK, already done...Marsch, Tanz der Fee...ahh, my best Tschaikovsky that I have. I love it!

Georg Solti's recording of the Bruckner symphony No.3 in D minor. A most underrated work.

                    v.,
You would never know I used to be a musician, folk and mountain music. During my Classical hiatus of course. Leadbelly was... a god! Hmmmm... and 20th century besides! Wow, breakthrough! Also, you are sure to feel vindicated, this afternoon last thing from work, I listened to Bartok's Piano Concerto #1. I think this is fairly progressive. I have Stravinsky's & Berg's Violin Concertos queued up awaiting my return on Monday, so I need some slack from you.

Geratlas, Good to see you back. And you brought Tachaikovsky with you. Good fellow

But to time travel back to the late 18th century, we come to the lovely Quartet in F major - #23 (out of 23) - K 590 - W. Amade Mozart. The King of Prussia didn't deserve such fine cello pieces anyway, glad WAM kept them.

Dinu Lipatti's last recital. This includes Bach's first Partita, Mozart's eighth piano sonata, the Schubert Impromptus, op.90, nos. 2 and 3, and Chopin's waltzes. The Bach is my favorite. Very nice!

Some nice choices, Tegan. As for me, Beethoven's Piano Sonata #21 "Waldstein"
with Richard Raymond, piano. And then later Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20, and perhaps Brahm's Hungarian Dance No. 4 followed by Beethoven Appassionata!

The #3 was my introduction to Bruckner. I don't have the Solti recording (at least I don't think I have it) but it is among my favorites.

This morning, another Schumann (not Haydn) quartet!
