Several sighs when I take a look to my Schubert collection. I listen now to a 'Best of' (The big Masters of CM, Vol.9 - Schubert) , I bought this box many years ago, to get a general idea. Hard to see: Brahms is no part of it, but I could listen to Verdi, Strauss and Wagner
    Forellenquintett: Tema con variazioni.

That Trout Quintet is a great piece of work. Good to see you listening to Schubert hausmusik!
For me now is a bit of Haydn, the Quartet in f minor for Strings - #23 - Op 20 #5 - Kodaly Quartet. This is the end of Sturm und Drang period for Haydn, and the beginning of 8 years with no quartets, until Mozart woke him up.

If you talk about 'house'-music, I rather keep on Franz Schubert and the complete 'Impromptus' zzz zzz

A splendid Sunday while listening to Schubert's Trio in E flat major for Piano, Geige and Violoncello Op.100
Dedicated exactly to me, because Schubert said: "This work is dedicated to none other than those who enjoy it. This is the most gainful dedication." Thanks Schöberl, house at its best!

That's great, good that you get some diversity!
And for me, who always has some diversity. it is the Symphony in d minor = #9 - Op 125 - L. v. Beethoven - Zurich Tonhalle Orchestre / Zinman. Excellent!

Fortunately, I'm no 'cascade.' I only would have diversity every 17 years

Hi folks. It has been a while since I have posted a message. Work gets in the way.

I am currently listening to symphony number 7, II movement.

It is one of my all time favourites. Apologies for the clichés, but it reminds me of dark stormy skies, gothic castles with a back drop of glistening snow just around the setting of the sun, reds and dark purples, velvet browns, and of course doomed romance.

It is quite a romantic, masculine piece. Very dark, majestic and broody, like the genius composer himself.

                      D.

I am listening to Virgil Thomson's Suites from "The Plow that Broke the Plains" and "Louisiana Story". Not Beethoven but still very nice music.
