I am listening to William Boyce Symphonies Op.2 with C. Hogwood conducting The Academy of Ancient Music. Just what period of music does Boyce fit into? I hear music from the baroque and then at certain times from the classical. His life (1711 - 1779) does span the two periods. At any rate his music is very enjoyable

The Quartet in E major for Strings - #4 - Op 10 - Antonin Dvorak - Even though he was still in his early "Long winded" stage, but sure is nice though.

I woke up early enough this am to catch No.20 on the Tv played by Andre LaPlant and the Montreal Symphony,he had a very gentle but deliberate touch,it was splendid.
Then I turned on the CBC radio 2 classical
programme, and heard the same orchestra in Beethoven's 2nd symphony ,perfect !

I listen every morning to Classical radio. I love it, to get surprised by CM early in the morning. That's the way, a day has to start!
Today, I came in Haydn mood: 'The Hen', 'Surprise', 'The Clock', #27, 28, 31...
I'm sure I have a recording played by Montreal Symphony, if I just would know which one it is...

Well, I have only 1 recording by Montreal Symphony / Dutoit, but it is a good one - 8 overtures by Giacchino Rossini - talk about a great way to wake up in the morning!
But right now it is Symphony in D major - #1 - D 82 - Franz Schubert. Not bad wake-u music either!

                  Wagner, Tristan & Isolde,
                  with the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Very sumptuous sound of this great orchestra with the Cleveland Orchestra's for Wagner.

I listened about 20 Symphonies of Haydn today, in fact my whole stock. Time to take a break: LvB's Opus 111
                    Ah... Ballett Suites AND Tschaikowsky?

                      P. 20 Symphonies! Mein Gottmann, sind Sie schlechter, als ich bin!
Right now, I am listening to the Sonata in C major - #1 - Op 1 - Johannes Brahms. Pretty good stuff for an Op 1.

                        Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 16 in C K 545
                        with Solist Andras Schiff, piano.
Gurn and Pastoralli, how do you like this Mozart tune? Pretty lively, eh? Beautiful 1st movement.

Also Beethoven's Leonore Prohaska Funeral March by the Minnesota Orchestra with
Stanislaw Skrowaczewski conductor. You don't hear this too often especially on radio.

                        Regards, Joy

Joy, I am very fond of both of those works. The sonata is frequently called one of Mozart's best, certainly it is one of his best-loved, whether that is the same thing or not!

Oh yes Joy, I like this one also very much! Again midnight here and in this matter I turn to Ingrid Haebeler playing K545. I'm flexibly...

Gurn! Watch out! You have to fight enough with your own bad habbits - but well done!! good night.

Yes, it is constantly a fight with my own bad habits, this is what makes life interesting!
Right now, another bad habit - Sonata in Eb for Piano - Hob 16:49 - F.J. Haydn - How can people not like these sonatas? Especially the late ones, they are really so nice.

I would call it a good habit. By Haydn I have only his Sonata #12, which is beautiful. This morning I enjoy the young Ludwig his very first Piano Sonatas Opus 2. Fresh & pearly!
BTW: How many P.S. did write Haydn?
