I presume that transcriptions of the score existed though, eventhough the original had been lost?

Wouldn't it be wonderful if a completely lost work, of which no record exists, were discovered. Bach wrote a lot of stuff that was lost, for instance, Passions of all the other gospel writers, and lots of instrumental works.
