'Siegfried Idyll', by Wagner. For anyone who thinks Wagner couldn't compose symphonic movements as well as Beethoven, I encourage you to listen to this sublime piece!

Verdi slept for years with score copies of Mozart and Beethoven SQ's near his bed, he used to read the scores to get sleepy and it was always his ambition to write a quartet, finally realized with the e minor. This is his only non-operatic/non-orchestral piece of work, and a pretty good one at that. It would be my opinion that you could play this for 100 people and not a single one would guess "Verdi".
But for me, the Symphony in C, K 425 'Linz" by Mozart - Academy of Ancient Music. Splendid!

I'm enjoying The Muir Quartet, while they were performing in Phoenix, playing Beethoven's Quartet No. 4 in a performance that was presented by the Phoenix Chamber Music Society.

For my listening pleasure this morning part of it consisted of the Flute Concerto in A by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach with Conductor Mario Bernardi and the CBC Vancouver Orchestra with Soloist Robert Aitken, flute.
A very enjoyable piece indeed.

R. Strauss, 'Arabella', a late, lyrical opera, with Montserrat Caballe in the title part. Purely wonderful flow of melody.
Of course, he was attacked by critics of the time for being retrograde and going back to traditional harmony, but the opera entered the repertory, and where are those critics now?...

Space, this was my Grandmother's favourite song and I love it too! I have the piano piece and like to play it, it's so lovely. Did you know he wrote this song after hearing it in a dream he had hence the title? (That's the story I heard anyway).

Dear Joy,
My grandaughter loves this last song of Stephen Foster's.I have only the piano part but am looking for guitar chords for it .
I'm trying to encourage the musicians in the family to learn it,the babes mom plays the clarinet and dad plays the electric bass
babes uncle can play guitar and my husband ,the grandpa, has a lovely tenor voice
with myself on piano it ought to be irresistable for the infant.
Although it will be my first foray into ensemble playing.I don't think the critic will be too harsh.
And as regards CPE Bach I highly recommend to you his Cello Concerto in A minor Wq 170.
I'm listening to it right now.Gorgeous!
Cheers,
Muriel

Beautiful Dreamer ,wake unto me;
Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee;
Sounds of the rude world heard in the day,
lulled by the moonlight have all passed away.
Beautiful dreamer,Queen of my song,
list while I woo thee with soft melody;
Gone are the cares of lifes busy throng;
Beautiful dreamer awake unto me;
Beautiful dreamer awake unto me
beautiful dreamer,out on the sea.
mermaids are chanting the wild Lorelei;
Over the streamlet vapors are borne
Waiting to fade at the bright coming morn.
Beautiful dreamer,beam on my heart
E'en as the morn on the streamlet and sea;
Then will all clouds of sorrow depart;
Beautiful dreamer,awake unto me;
Beautiful dreamer,awake unto me.
all together now..."Finis coronat opus "
