    Did Beethoven invent espresso?
I am woman. Hear me roar!

Maybe!! We've commented on his 60 beans before - must have been a very strong coffee.

Coffee came to Austria with the Turkish army
that besieged Vienna in 1683 and ,although the Turks lost, the coffee won.

Ludwig drank his coffee in Turkish not in Italian.

Mentioning 60 beans, not one more, not one less, and he had to count them! Guess we have to overlook genius's and their eccentricities! I wonder if they had weaker coffee back then?!

            Coffee addiction.

One time in Germany the government hired a special force known as 'Kaffe Schnufflers' to sniff out illicit roasters and smugglers.
It was an intense campaign brought about by King Frederick who did not believe that coffe-drinking soldiers could be relied upon. Fortunately he failed for he too loved coffee.

BACH is renowned for the high seriousness of his music and art, what is probably less well known is that in the right circumstances he could be quite a playful and humerous person.
Coffe drinking in Europe began in London in the 1680's and the insurance industry grew from the meetings of merchants at Lloyds Coffee House. It spread to mainland Europe in the early part of the 18th century and Bach satarized its popularity in his delightful and amusing Coffee Cantata. The Father tries to prevent the daughter from drinkiing coffee to which she is addicted and he seems to win her round by saying that she won't find a husband, if she carries on coffee drinking.
She plays along, but she tells herself she will have it written into the marriage contract that she be allowed to drink coffee. Otherwise she will not wed!

You read the delightful lyrics in English on the following link: http://www.good-music-guide.com/revi...ee_cantata.htm

            Hope you enjoy the link.
