    Seeking Recording Recommendation for ....

    Looking for good recordings for...

    - Beethoven Bagatelles (Complete)
    - Chopin Sonatas and Impromptus (Complete)

Thanks in advance for the recommendations

I have Beethovens complete Bagatelles and Dances performed by Jeno jando which,in my opinion, is a very good recording and I enjoy listening to it very much. Also I don't think you can go wrong with Murray Perahia performing Chopin (or other composers for that matter). I have his CD performing Chopin's Etudes and it's excellent!

I recently purchased John O'Conor's version of the complete bagatelles, and they are excellent. I like them better than Jando's and Brendel's.

I second Chris' recommendation of the O'Conor. I really like his style, and technically it is well-recorded too. Of course the Jando is not bad either, but O'Conor sounds "mellower" I guess.

I'm not sure I'd call it "mellower." I think he is more...precise.

            Chris,
Well, that, yes, but I was talking about the overall tone of the piano and the sound in general, it just seems, OK, let's try "less aggressive"

I shall have to listen to the John O'Conor performance of the Bagatelles. I have heard him performing other pieces on my classical radio station and have enjoyed listening to him.

I have just purchased the Maestro's Hammerklavier on EMI by Stephen Kovacevich, who I consistently find one of the greatest living Beethovian pianists. I think this is a breathtaking rendition. On the CD is also "Les Adieux" and the Bagatelles which I hadn't heard beore but which sound wonderful Incidentally I got the CD yesterday at the Royal Feestival Hall for £9.99 which seemed a great bargain
