Pretty good performances here I think. The march loses none of its impact on the lighter instrument as some may expect, quite the opposite in fact, though this interpretation is perhaps a little too brittle at times at the 'drumrole, gun salute' sections, though his basic concept I agree with.

I like Badura-Skoda's treatment of the finale, with subtle use of the moderator lever (knee lever, no pedals at this stage on Viennese pianos) adding an ethereal effect at certain points.

As a Brucie Bonus, i have the score to opus26 for you:

Yes that funeral march is quite remarkable -amazing harmonies, the orchestral version is also fascinating and highly effective. For all you budding pianists out there, the last movement is an excellent rotary study!

Rod, I checked your score link and it wasn't working this morning!

Not sure why it's not working. I only have limited download option per month on Geocities, so try again later, it may work.

Danke, Rod. I really enjoyed the Allegro. I need to hear music like this to cheer me up on these cold winter days.

Did you skip the funeral march Andrea?

Yes I did listen to both pieces, Peter. I also liked the funeral march, but the Allegro brought a bit of sunshine into my flat this morning.
