Happy Birthday Schubert,- A musical Journey

    Happy Birthday Schubert! January 31st

    A musical journey by foot - 2004

When Schubert created his song cycle, 'Die Winterreise', he evoked the emotions of a scarred lover who is seeking spiritual solace on the road.
Now a singer is taking a similar path, literally!

American Tenor, David Pisaro, is walking across England, stopping along the way to perform Schubert's masterpieces at 13 towns and villages. Taking a coast-to-coast route that begins in St.Bees, in Cumbria, and ends in Robin Hood's Bay, North Yorkshire.

Pisaro (accompanied by pianist, Quentin Thomas) will be performing in shops, churches and town halls.

"The worse the weather, the better the situation, because I am doing a bit of method acting to get into the role of this love lost traveller, winter-wanderer"

    *************

What a wonderful gesture! This is really bringing classical music to the people.

God Bless Pisaro and pianist Quentin Thomas. And Schubert!

Yes what a great gesture and an original idea - I'll look out for him if he passes on the South downs way!
