    Did Beerthoven "Steal " it?

A very early work of Mozart called "Bastien und Bastienne" K50 in which the overture uses the exact four note motive found in the first movement of the Eroica Symphony. What do you think? Did LvB hear the work of Mozart before composing the Eroica? Or is it possible that both composers came onto the same motive on their on? By the way the Mozart work is said to have been composed the year LvB was born, 1770.
